ABOUT US

MIMESIS is a full cycle film production company founded by independent producer Yanna Buryak in 2014. We specialise in the international co-production of auteur driven cinema, having produced shorts and documentary films in the UK, Greece, Italy, Franceand Brazil as well as Russia, with colleagues from Germany, the Netherlands and Kosovo.

Our most acclaimed titles include: “Fedor’s Journey Through Moscow At The Turn Of The 21st Century” by Axinya Gog (2016). The film premiered online on Short Of The Week in November 2018, received many awards around the world, including winning festivals such as Cottbus, SHNIT and Premiers Plans. “Milk” by Daria Vlasova (2017). The film was named the most successful Russian short of 2017, according to a number of publications. It saw it’s world premiere at the Berlinale and premiered nationally at Kinotavr film festival where it took the Critic's Choice Award for Best Short Film and a special mention from the jury. “Milk” was released as part of an anthology film compiled by Pioneer distribution, «Russian Shorts.1st Edition», that reached 62 screens across Russia and was purchased, among others, by Channel One Russia Worldwide and Canal +.

We are currently in post-production of two feature length documentary films: “Memory” by Vladlena Sandu and “Scazzicare” by Julien Colardelle & Victoria Visco Mendoça; as well as being in production of our first feature live action film "The White Ship". We also continue making short films, our latest is "Father's Letters" by Alexey Evstigneev supported by CNC, Ciclic, region Grand Est, Marie de Paris and France 2 in France.
